Please read the letter below from my dear friend and world class artist Karen Wheeler. You can also visit her website at www.karenwheeler.com Paul Dear friends, Most of you know me as a fairly active artist and disabled rights activist, and you know I'm always working on different projects. I wanted to tell you about my current project titled “Bringing the World to Dale”. I'm sharing this project with you in hopes that you may offer some advice, ideas and /or media coverage. I met a man named Dale Dulaney about a month ago. A friend of his named Carol saw an article about me in the newspaper after my last art unveiling in December, and she asked me if I would consider calling and visiting him. Dale has Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy. It usually kills boys before they turn 20 years old. Dale will turn 50 in August! Isn't that amazing? He has totally defied the odds! Dale has been bedridden for approximately 16 years, and has been living in a nursing home for around 12 years because he must use an iron long. He can only move his facial muscles (mouth, eyes, etc.) and is essentially cut off from the rest of the world -- thus my big plan!!! BRING THE WORLD TO DALE!!! My plan is to make enough money to get him a laptop computer (I'm thinking around $1, 000) and a system where he can work the cursor with his mouth called Jouse2 (which costs approximately $1, 500 -- please see the link below). My goal is to earn this money before his 50th birthday in August. I believe I can do this, especially with your help. All of us have our daily problems and challenges, and some of you may even think about me if you ponder “Gee, I really shouldn't complain because I don't have as many problems as Karen has”, or something like that. Well, Dale needs my help, and I am positive that I can make this happen. So please talk to me. I don't want to do this the slow way and deal with any bureaucratic red tape. Help me get this man on the Internet! The first event toward this direction will happen in April. My dear friend Brent Muscat (from the band Faster Pussycat) is going to help me create an auction and raffle for money to help Dale. I will be raffling off some very limited edition Giclee prints, T-shirts and other surprises, and I have other friends donating some really cool stuff -- I will let you know when all of this is happening as it happens! Hello Everyone...I hope all is well. I have been quite busy lately...still working on finishing up the new album--"44". It has been occupying A LOT of my nights!....and of course, if I dont finish it soon, I'll have to rename it "45" LOL! I am also putting together a new project...a new band that will concentrate on playing only those great rock classics that you dont hear very much these days...don't worry---nothing obscure or experimental, ha ha...just good classic rock from the 60's, 70.s and 80's. If you are anywhere near my age, you will immediately recognize our setlist. Remember rock and roll? "Classy" classic rock? You know, bands like Toto, Allman Brothers, Cream, CSNY, Frampton, Clapton, Traffic, Rick Springfield, Doobie Brothers, Player, Little River Band...and of course, Van Halen, Def Lepperd, Arrowsmith, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix, Steely Dan...the list goes on and on...The band is called "Rock-n-rollback" and thats exactly what I would love to do...help bring Rock and Roll back...I will be posting updates on the bands progress as well as future performance dates. "44"--the new album Paul Mills Paul will be releasing his 4th solo album "44" in 2008. 44 will be his first "Concept" album and will be a revealing and introspective look into his life and times. "This is a project very near and dear to my heart" says Paul. "I'm really unsure if anyone will listen to the lyrics or even care to read between the lines, but this album will be sort of like a closing chapter to my life thus far". Does this mean something new following the release of this album? "I certainly hope so...I have some new ideas, etc and some new projects yet to do...I've always written and recorded music that comes straight from my heart without worrying about the current trends or trying to be anything other than who I am...my music is my release and if someone can identify with it--great! But 44, for the most part, certainly isn't going to be mainstream radio-friendly pop material---it will be more of a classic rock album reminiscent of my upbringing in music" Keep checking back for details on the upcoming double CD available online and by mail in March 2008. If you made out to the Rainbow Room in Vegas to catch our show, I hope you had a good time...We certainly appreciated the turnout (packed house!) Thanks for your support! It's been a little hectic lately...I'm still working on my new album and finishing up some tracks here and there as time permits, putting together the new "Faux Collins" show, rehearsing with another band that is for now, a "secret" project (details soon) and trying to fit all of that in with moving into a new house. If you get a chance, there are a few demo tracks for the new album in the songs section on my website...check 'em out and let me know what you think of the basic tracks (I still have some work to do on them). Notes from Paul Hello Everyone...just finished recording a demo for a song I wrote called "Ride". This is a special song written for a special person. I recorded this one rather quickly...the message of the song was of the utmost importance more than getting every detail right...but, I hope you will give it a listen. It was one of those nights when I wished I could wave a magic wand and make everything all better for someone who was having a rough time...the only thing I could do was write and record a song for her---and this was the result....enjoy!
